Outpatient Hospice Care

La Bella Vita Hospice is an outpatient facility. We do not treat patients at our office location. Instead, we visit patients at their homes.

This allows the patient to remain in an environment that’s comfortable and familiar, without the stress of a hospital or other inpatient facility. Our hospice nurses are prepared to assist you in your home with whatever care you require.

There are many benefits for a patient to remain in their home while facing a serious illness. Hospital beds are limited and hospital stays are expensive; you can run up quite a bill just by staying in a bed for several days or weeks. Also, hospitals can make for sterile, uncomfortable surroundings, with strangers constantly coming and going. The advantage of staying in a hospital is immediate treatment, but since hospice patients have decided to cease curative treatment for their condition, this benefit is mostly unnecessary.

Hospice Physician

A hospice physician is responsible for providing crucial care during the last months or weeks or life.

Working with a team of hospice nurses, caregivers, and the patient themselves, hospice physicians ensure that the patient is as comfortable as possible and make recommendations for further care. When you receive hospice care from La Bella Vita Hospice, you gain access to the skills and expertise of hospice physicians to provide the best possible care for you or your loved one.

Hospice physicians can come from different backgrounds and fields of medicine. But they share the common goal of easing suffering, and make expert medical recommendations based on the patient’s needs. Unlike a typical doctor who may have 200 or more patients, hospice physicians have the flexibility to see patients as often as needed. Physicians will visit the patient on a regular schedule, and if the patient is in continuous care, they may visit more often. They are also on call if the patient’s condition suddenly changes or worsens. They communicate extensively with the patient, their caregivers, and their nursing staff to determine how the patient is progressing and develop medical recommendations.
